Very good food. Very good service. Order was placed and food was received very quickly!! Hidden gem adjacent to Quality Inn.

Thought it might be time to post an update. We came here tonight because a cafe down the road neglected to serve us. (At all). It was nice to see that Lulu's is consistent. We were greeted quickly, given a comfy booth, drinks were brought quickly, our order was taken quickly, and dinner arrived quickly as well. It was more than we could eat (and very tasty!) for a good price. Our server was very pleasant. We had come hungering for good, healthy food for a good price and we got it here! Thanks again, Lulu's.

I think the food and service were both pretty good. no complaints ! Ambiance and decor was very nice. Wall paintings were awesome. Food quantity was more than enough. Hot and sour soup was not the greatest.

My first and last visit to this Chinese restaurant. Food is pre-made, not made fresh-to-order and SO SO. They do serve a very ample amount of large shrimp in any shrimp dish, though they weren't deveined very well. I would not return. Service is very attentive, place is clean, but food quality will not bring me back for a 2nd visit.

We are passing through Santa Fe and were looking for an Asian restaurant. Lulu's was like going to the Chinese restaurants of my childhood. We took our four very tired children after an all day drive & were pleasantly greeted. We ordered 4 dishes and 4 cups of soup for the six of us - we should have ordered 3 dishes - way too much food for the six of us. The pork fried rice was the best I've had in a long time and the sweet & sour chicken was the traditional dish from my childhood - veggies, pineapple - the kids loved it! The food came quickly and very friendly wait-staff. They even brought almond cookies.

They are good! Lunch specials are so large-portion and satisfying. Well, granted the sauces they use can be a little too thick to me from time to time, but they mostly do a good job.

We ate at Lulu's a couple of nights ago. While it was not the flavors we are use to it was very good and fairly priced. I saw in one review they where raging on the décor. Yes some of it is mismatched, but it is very clean an the furniture has never affected the flavor or quality of the food that I have noticed. If we come back this way we will defiantly eat there again.

2 weeks in a row my co-workers convinced me to get Chinese. Chinese food is terrible IMHO. It is one-half step below fast food on the early-death-o-meter. I ordered the carbs with extra sodium (turns out it's the only thing they serve on the menu). Don't eat Chinese food, unless you go to China. Apparently it is completely different there.

Chinese can be dicey in Santa Fe. Don't let the location of Lulu's (attached to a random Quality Inn) fool you - it's the newest venture of an old Yin Yang veteran. I have no idea what it's like on the weekends, though...there seems to be a club/lounge attached. You won't find anything abnormal on the menu (although it seems they have an impressive seafood selection, if you're willing to risk it), but the list is long and adorably misspelled (would you like some "grispy bean curd"? I would think so) and features a bunch of vegetarian options. One of my favorites is the Hot and Sour Soup: tangy, full of tofu and mushrooms, and appropriately thick without being slimy. Only 1.45 for a cup (or small "bowel") means you can actually finish the damn thing before your main course shows and gets cold. The service is also great. The waiter was quiet at first, but opened up once we started to crack a few jokes. And I never once had to pour my own tea from the pot. If you want some Americanized Chinese that's not greasy and doesn't risk intestinal agony, I would recommend Lulu's. I hope it sticks around!

I love everything about LuLu. The kitschy atmosphere a/l/a 1972, and the amazingly comprehensive menu. The potstickers are divine, an we enjoyed the combination lo mein and combination fried rice. Also had the Beef and Chicken Hunan with vegetables. It was really flavorful, and the service was friendly and prompt. Highly recommend!

Wonderful food! My wife and I ordered take-out from Lulu's and were pleasantly surprised at the quality and freshness. Very friendly service. Highly recommend.

Omg! The food was amazing. We tried hot and sour soup, three flavor noodles, chicken and broccoli and Happy family. The atmosphere is a little weird--attached to a hotel--but the service and food were great and the price was low to average for Santa Fe.

Great prices, friendly service, excellent and filling food. Lulu's is an excellent place and perhaps one of the most satisfying Asian restaurants in Santa Fe. I must note that their deep-fried shrimp is incredibly juicy and crispy, while at the same time possessing almost no hint of grease. The atmosphere isn't great, but when you need some rice, hot and sour soup, eggplant, and chicken on the cheap, who cares about the atmosphere? I'll also add that while being heartily recommended by your present, American reviewer, Lulu's is a favorite among the Korean and Chinese students of my college in Santa Fe.

Have had take-out a few more times from here. Still good! They still put broccoli in everything, too. That's the only reason I'm not giving five stars.

I don't know who thinks they can get amazing Chinese food in Santa Fe, but this is the closest I have come! Love it.

I went here on Chinese New year, Feb.18th, 2015. The food was nice, not so many people was here. Dumplings are not very good, too many artificial things in wonton soup. Stirred dish was fine.

Sad excuse for Chinese. I've been there twice and both times extremely disappointed. This time I ordered General Tso's Chicken. Their version had little to do with the actual dish. They threw in the kitchen sink. Thumbs DOWN.

Slowest Chinese restaurant i've ever been in. Somewhat surprising since i was the only one there most of the time. Weird too how they brought everything out one at a time, like was having courses or something. Food is good, and i might be back.

Really love the pepper beef here. This restaurant (surprisingly) provides the REAL Chinese style dishes, compared with some other Chinese restaurant in town.

Very good Chinese food in Santa Fe. I ordered chicken curry and though too spicy for my palate it had great flavor. Everything tasted fresh and the service second to none.

This review is for take out. Good chicken fried rice, different but okay chow fun (not enough noodles), and HORRENDOUS dumplings. There is never an excuse to undercook dumplings, but it is absolutely inexcusable when they are pork dumplings. Pink meat in every dumpling is poor service and just plain nasty.

This place is awesome. Best food I had in Santa Fe. Order their fish fillets and kung pao chicken.

Getting good Chinese food in Santa Fe is tough. We heard about LuLu's and ate there (of all nights) Christmas 2010 after hearing they were open. It was excellent. Very fresh and clean, the Peking Duck was over the top. This is not an easy dish to pull off, as duck can be dry and tough or greasy. The duck here was prefect. Crisp, moist and maybe the best Peking Duck I've ever had. We also had the Mixed Seafood in Birds Nest. The fish was fresh and the vegetable perfectly prepared. Kung Pao Three Flavor, equality good with an abundance of perfectly cooked very fresh vegetables and meats (and seafood) Don't judge the quality of this food by the parking lot or that it appears to be attached to the Quality Inn hotel. Inside the places is nice but still doesn't give you an idea of the quality of the food. Give it a try, I think you'll be pleased.

The most disgusting Peking Duck I ever had in my life. This place doesn't even deserve one star.

In a town that is most definitely Asian food challenged, this is one of the best places to get quality Chinese food.

Quite the surprise. Extensive menu and the taste factor matched those of the ubiquitous greasy Chinese joints in big cities. This isn't for those of you who enjoy gourmet Chinese but perfect for those of us who crave the taste of big city Chinese. I had given up on finding anything I liked here in Santa Fe until trying this place. We had the fried rice and lo mein and both were satisfyingly yummy. Cream cheese wontons too. Allergic to crab so this was a treat. Worth a try for you to see if this joint satiates your palate.

  • Brian T.

The place is nice, food is good, and the service is good. I would have to say that this place is far better than most, yet still a typical Chinese joint just the same.

What can I say ! Santa Fe has amazing restaurants and this is certainly one of them. Authentic Chinese cuisine and subtle and super tasty. Great service as well- now that's not very common in a Chinese restaurant :)

Don't bother. Very bland, boring, tasteless food. Didn't get what I ordered. Waitress didn't know what was in the various dishes.

Awesome lo mein with chicken. Great service. Very authentic. Best in town. Don't let the exterior steer you away.

Nice comfortable atmosphere and good service. We ordered from the lunch specials menu. The four fried shrimps in the appetizer (from the main menu) were of good size with crispy breading however the shrimp were tasteless. The Shrimp in Lobster Sauce menu item displayed good sized shrimp, yet again the shrimp had no flavor, nor did the lobster sauce. The egg rolls were barely edible and bland. The Kung Pao Chicken had too many vegetables, uninteresting sauce, and tiny little pieces of chicken in low quantity....Pass this restaurant by....

Supper was good, the service good. Our waiter did a real good job. Won Ton soup was good according to Sarah who is an expert. Hot tea good too.

It's old school good here. Basic fare with some new twists on old meals. Fair priced and convenient if you're here visiting. Not the prettiest, but clean and fresh food. Not a lot of Chinese in town, and it was a guess where to go till someone recommended it. A nice change from pico de gallo. Worth coming to for a change of pace.

Great pork egg foo young and fried rice. Best Chinese food in a while. Service is prompt and accomodative. Never had a failing dish here. Corrina is a lovely waitress and is easily recognizable for many.

Wow. Granted it was Christmas Day and crowded but the poor quality of the service at Lulu's was truly epic. There appeared to be a contest among the waitstaff to see who could most effectively avoid eye contact with would be diners desperate to eat. After waiting for 20 minutes without water, utensils, or any sort of acknowledgment, I started waving my hands over my head - the universal distress signal. A waiter saw me and looked away, hoping to avoid eye contact. I kept waving. Finally, out of shame perhaps, the waiter looked my way and held up his finger to indicate he would get to me later. After more time passed, our order was taken and food actually arrived. It seemed like a miracle. The food was actually pretty good, plentiful, and cheap - the only reason why this rating is not one star.

I always hit this place up on Sunday. I love that they stay open. Food is good and consistent. They do tofu well (better than some other places close by). Don't let the location deter you. I have yet to see the bar open though.

Great food! The egg drop soup is perfect, egg rolls are more like spring rolls but very tasty. The orange chicken was super yummy! Funky atmosphere but fun, good service, very attentive. Great chinese food!

Sorry- I come from a lifelong history of demanding Chinese Food Excellence, Lulu's was not the one. We ordered lots of food and asked for "very spicy." It didn't happen. There was no flavor (as if asking for no MSG meant "no flavor please") and there was no heat, no spice. We asked for a broccoli dish, tasted like nothing. I got a seafood combination, tasted like the same nothing. It was bizarre and tasteless. Also- the interior was embarrassing- it looked like two or three restaurants from the early 80's were contributing to the tables, booths and chairs. What a mess. It was an eyesore and also, everyone there was well over 60, everyone being the 3 other tables of guests. Not only would I not eat there again, I haven't even thought about the place since I ate there 4 months ago.

Wow, when we walked in, none of our party of eight even realized that this is Lulu's new restaurant (Lulu worked at Ying Yang for 19 years), so seeing her smiling face was wonderful. AND to top it off, she already knew my 97 year-old grandmother's drink preferances before we had even sat down. I think that's impressive. They don't say it on the menu, but I already knew they have full bar access with the nightclub that shares the space, so a round of mixed drinks for those of us old enough to drink was in order. And the two kids (under 5 years of age) were perfectly accomodated with spill-proof cups accordingly. I ordered the scallop dish and thought it was wonderful and since we usually share in the dishes, I got to taste quite a few other dishes like the crispy duck (cooked to perfection) and a couple tastey tofu dishes that were very nice (and I generally hate tofu). Lastly, the price was great! Our family of five (and the two children) ate very well for under $140, which is almost unheard of in this town... and only $20 of that was from our bar-ordered drinks.

Had it not been for Yelp, might not have gone here and missed out on one of the best Chinese meals ever. Great food in, of all places, a small Quality Inn in Santa Fe.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
